  2. Table of contents: • 1. Opening • 2. Life cycle • 3. First aide • 4. Training Tips • 5. Breeds • 6. Dogs recommended for families with kids

  3. Opening Some dogs are used for hunting. Some for working, and also guardian and sporting. All dogs are used for different things, and reasons. Dogs can be cuddly, cute and protective, but most of all, they will love you.

  4. Life Cycle Newborn puppies are pink, and have no fur. You have to be very careful and gentle. Especially if it’s a chihuahua.Baby chihuahuas are very tiny. Two could fit in a grownup’s hand! When puppies are just born, it takes a couple days for their eyes to open.

  5. But puppies aren’t small for long. At a few months old, their eyes will surely be open, and they will begin to have their normal amount of fur.

  6. When they get to be about 3 years old to 5 years old, they reach their full grown size. At about 6 years old, through 10, a dog is fully grown. If it’s a girl, it will have babies at 7 years to 8 years.

  7. After the mom has puppies, the mother dog feeds its pups milk. The mom continues this until the pup’s eyes are open, or a bit longer. By then, the puppy will have all its fur, and its eyes open.

  8. First aide Beestings: If your dog is stung, first remove the stinger, (If its still there) by gently scraping it off by using a thumbnail, or the edge of a credit card. Do not use tweezers or your two finger tips, because you will pop the venom sack attached to the stinger.

  9. Be cautious: a hurt dog is panic stricken and may try to bite. So just to be careful, use a blanket, handkercheif, or towel, and place it gently over the dog’s eyes. Then carry it, (if it’s a managable size) to a spot where there is no commotion to calm it.

  10. How to stop a bleeding wound: First, gently tap a folded kleenex or napkin on the cut. Then wrap a strip of gauze around the cut.

  11. Training tips In training, its important not to yell. Use a soft voice. If the dog is stubborn, use dog biscuits. And something else that’s important to remember, is that your dog is not a slave, so don’t use a harsh voice. Use a nice voice. When you have a new dog, teach simple tricks first. For example, sit, stay, or lay down. Always remember that dogs don’t train themselves!

  12. Breeds Dogs are all different. Just like their called. Some are even named after landmarks! Like the Newfoundland, or the Great Pyrenees. These are some dogs that are popular: Golden Retrievers are the most popular dogs in the United States, Labs are popular for hunting, and poodles are known for agility. All kinds of dogs are popular somewhere, maybe you can discover it!

  13. 5 breeds recommended for families with kids Newfoundlands are great dogs for families with kids, because they are big, and protective, but very gentle. Newfoundlands are also great working dogs.

  14. Bull mastiffs are also good with kids. Just like the Newfoundland, they are big and gentle.

  15. Bernese Mountain Dogs are big and soft and very gentle. They are mellow. And on walks, they won’t have to run.

  16. Another breed, is the Golden retriever. They are soft coated, and have a big heart. You could snuggle up with one, and take a nap.

  17. The last breed, is a lab. They are good hunters, and usually like to greet strangers. They have sleek, soft fur, and are very gentle.

  18. Closing Dogs come in all colors and breeds, and they are all used for different things. Dogs can be cute and playful, maybe protective and harsh, but if you get to know a dog, you might find out they’re not so bad after all.
