  2. Illiteracy among children is one of the major problems the world faces today.

  3. Twenty-two percent of Americans can’t read or write. While it is an unseen problem, illiteracy profoundly impacts our society.

  4. Statistics reveal that 60% of prison inmates are illiterate, and 85% of all juvenile offenders have reading problems.

  5. More than half of the people in America aged to 65 have a reading level below the eighth grade.

  6. Illiteracy leads to . . . lowself-esteem, unemployment, poverty and crime.

  7. The amount of time spent in poverty has a significant and negative effect on child's academic achievement.

  8. We need your help.

  9. What better quality time can be found than reading with a child, no matter his or her age-get lost in a good book together.

  10. Reading to us increases our knowledge of the world, our vocabulary, and our interest in reading.

  11. Help us imagine the world we can not see.

  12. Be a part of making us great.

  13. Help us read. Help us learn. Help us know.

  14. Give us the freedom to live, grow, and be a part of this world.

  15. We want to become that person we’re meant to be.
