Learner to resources • Reducing scheduling conflicts • Builds 21st skills for a knowledge-based economy • Increase student access to highly-qualified teachers • Offering courses not otherwise available / Special Groups(rural, high risk students, suspended students, ill students, AP, gifted, others) • Growing student populations and limited space • Reduce need for out-of-state solutions, builds capacity/skill in NM • Providing new service to home/private school students • More diverse student learning cohorts

Online Learning Models • Synchronous Class • Teacher and learners meet at the same time and delivery is live. • Asynchronous Class • Independent of time: Teacher and learners can access the class at any time and as many times as desired. IDEAL-NM Execution Tasks • Issue RFPs for acquisition of statewide LMS Web Conferencing software solution • Establish contracts with LMS Web Conferencing software vendors • Procure hardware to support Data Center implementation of LMS and Web Conferencing software solution • Implement Data Center with LMS and Web Conferencing software • Develop training plans and training materials • Train Teachers to teach online courses, and tech support personnel • Establish contract with vendor to purchase online courses • Develop high school level NM History and Algebra • Execute teaching of NM and Vendor course pilots – Spring 08 • Execute teaching all sections of NM History and Algebra in Fall 08 • Interview and hire helpdesk staff • Procure helpdesk software and establish statewide helpdesk services before Spring ‘08 courses begin
