  7. Hands-on Experience • Most universities (and at UofO), students have ample opportunity to gain valuable work experience through service learning and student internships. • Under the direction of experienced faculty and professionals in the field, students work with county health departments, medical care facilities, voluntary health organizations and a variety of other agencies and organizations concerned about the health and welfare of people in our community. • These opportunities provide students with hands-on experience prior to actual employment, and offer an excellent opportunity for job leads and placement.

  14. You are currently writing your resume Question: What do employers look for in an entry-level employee? Answer: • Attitude (surly, gruff, disagreeable, crabby, impolite, rude, curt? Or, friendly, courteous, self-assured, etc.??) • Desire – where do you want to go? • Preparation – what have you done? • Ability to “get along” with others – references will tell • Punctuality – show up on time, every day? • Ability to follow instructions – read and do; a self-starter? • Ability to learn – anxious to “grow” and become better • Goals – where do you “see” yourself in five years?
