Texas Farm BureauMiss Texas Farm Bureau Contest • $1,000 scholarship for each district winner; state winner, runner-up and 4 finalists receive $4,000, $2,500 and $1,500, respectively • Applicants must • be part of a FB member • be single • between the ages of 16 and 19 • Deadline: immediately following county contest

  13. State Farm Good Neighbor Scholarship • High School Seniors Only • Plan to enroll in a 2 or 4 year college starting in Fall 2012 • Must have GPA of 2.5-3.2 • Demonstrate financial need • Awarded twice with good first year grades • Deadline – Jan 25, 2012 • Only 360 apps accepted

HLSR: Ag Mechanics Technology Scholarship • $4,000 per year for up to two years (with good grades) • For pursuing Associate’s Degree in Ag Tech, Diesel/Auto Engines, Heating/Ventilation/AC, Power Systems or Welding • Must be senior and have project entered in the Ag Mech Show OR 2012 Tractor Tech Contest Finals • Provide THEA, SAT or ACT Scores • Deadline – Feb. 22, 2012 (CODE AM2012) • www.rodeohouston/about/scholarship

  18. SALE Rural Youth Scholarships • Up to 20, $1,000 scholarships • 4-H’ers at least 16 yrs.   21. History • More than 53 years old • Largest 4-H scholarship program in US • $2.2 million dollars will be given at the State Roundup Scholarship Assembly • First scholarship ($1,000) given in 1959 by the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo

  22. 2012 Texas 4-H Scholarships • Approximately 225 academically-competitive scholarships will be awarded • Amounts range from $1,000 to $16,000 (amount established by donor) • Presented during Texas 4-H Roundup in June, in Lubbock

Changes in 2012 • Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is now accepting Home School and Private School Applicants as scholars • All applicants invited to participated in interviews are NOT guaranteed a scholarship • Applicants will NOT be excused from either face-to-face interviews or the scholarship assembly at roundup. Applicants and Families should plan accordingly based on the dates provided in the guidelines

Four Categories • Baccalaureate • For students who wish to pursue a Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree • Technical Certification • For students who wish to pursue technical certification • Collegiate • Designed for former Texas 4-H members who have completed at least 30 hours of college credit and maintained a 2.7 GPA • Courageous Heart • Awarded to Texas 4-H members that have overcome extreme obstacles related to medical, family and/or education, and remained an active member of both 4-H and school

General Requirements • Be an active member of the Texas 4-H and Youth Development Program • Be a United States Citizen • Be a Texas resident • Be scheduled to graduate from a Texas High School (public, private, or home) during the 2011-12 school year • Have made formal application to enroll in a Texas college/university/technical school • Meet the entrance requirements for the college/ university for which formal application has been made • Not apply for both 4-H & FFA scholarships • Submit a current Texas 4-H Scholarship application

Baccalaureate • 1350 on SAT (3 sections) or 19 on ACT • Be in the upper one-half of his/her class • Houston & Wallrath require top 1/4) • Completed and passed all necessary standardized tests • Have been accepted into Texas school • County deadline: February 3, 2012 • Interviews: May 4-6, 2012 in Austin, Texas • Orientation, Awards Program and Banquets: June 11, 2012

  28. Technical Certification • Completed and passed all necessary standardized tests • Have been accepted into Texas school • NOT have plans for formal education • County deadline: February 3, 2012 • Interviews: May 4-6, 2012 • Orientation, Awards Program and Banquets: June 11, 2012

  29. Courageous Heart • Completed and passed all necessary standardized tests • Have demonstration of obstacles related to health, education and/or family • County deadline: February 3, 2012 • Interviews: May 4-6, 2012 • Orientation, Awards Program and Banquets: June 11, 2012

  30. Collegiate • Have actively participated in 4-H during high school years • Be attending or will be attending a Texas college/university • Completed 30 semester hours by fall ‘10 • Deadline: Feb 3, 2012 • Orientation, Awards Program and Banquets: June 11, 2012
