  3. BIOGRAPHY • Annelies Marie Frank was born on June 12, 1929 in Frankfurt, Germany. • She was the second daughter of Otto Frank and Edith Frank-Holländer. • Her family was Jewish and German. The Frank and Holländer families have lived in Germany for centuries. • Her family had to quit Germany when the nazis arrived to the power. • Her family were hidden for about two years until they were betrayed.

ThE DiArY • Anna Frank started to write her diary when she was thirteen- • year-old. • She called her diary “kitty” • Miep Gies, one of the family’s helpers,saved the diary during • the war. • It was first published in 1947. • Her diary has been translated into 67 languages. • It is one of the most widely read books in the world.

Second World War • Second World War started when Hitler invaded Poland in 1939. • England and France declared the war to Hitler. • Hitler broke his pact with Russia. • Japan, attacked Pearl Harbour. • Italy broke its pact with Germany. • USA threw the A-bomb upon Japan. • In 1945 the aliance defeated Germany.

  6. THE NAZIS • Nazis were Hitler’s followers. • There was a secret police called SS. • The Nazis built many concentration camps. • In concentration camps the Nazis killed many Jews. • Anna Frank was a prisoner in Bergen-Belsen.
