  2. ChemFFX - Risk Assessment Select the RISK ASSESSMENT tab And WORKPLACE SPECIFIC

  3. ChemFFX - Risk Assessment From your Manifest Tree, Select the ‘Store / location’ from which you will chose a material upon which to perform the Risk Assessment Recommendation: print a copy of the MSDS for which you plan to do a Risk Assessment you will then have a reference in front of you containing warnings, Risk codes and phrases needed to make informed selections during this process.

  4. ChemFFX - Risk Assessment Explanation of Buttons in list below. Store selected is highlighted Red Status of Risk Assessments done for this Store

  5. ChemFFX - Risk Assessment Select the button next to Material for which to do a risk assessment

  6. ChemFFX - Risk Assessment chemical selected Before Proceeding with this Risk Assessment, check existing Hazards for this material

  7. ChemFFX - Risk Assessment chemical selected Identifies Hazards for this material See Risk Codes etc already in place for the material selected these will appear on your MSDS Select CLOSE to go back to previous screen

  8. ChemFFX - Risk Assessment chemical selected Select ADD To create new Risk Assessment Definitions / explanations of these phrases follow in the next screen

ChemFFX - Risk Assessment Type of Exposure – “AFTER” Continuous release/emission - where the total time the worker is exposed to the substance / contaminant is greater than three (3) hours, but less than / equal to eight (8) hours. Intermittent release/emission- where the total time the worker is exposed to the substance / contaminant is less than / equal to three (3) hours for the day Spill/accident– exposure is limited to unusual events During maintenance - One off exposure where the total time the worker is exposed to the substance / contaminant is less than / equal to fifteen (15) minutes for the day. Scale of use: –         Minor Domestic- Small scale, infrequent use –         Laboratory- Small scale, frequent use –         Industrial/Commercial - Large scale, at any frequency of use

  10. ChemFFX - Risk Assessment • Select ONE of these options:- • continuous release/emission • Intermittent release/emission • You can ALSO choose either or both of these options:- • spill/accident • during maintenance (Takes you to another screen for level of assessment, see next screen)

  11. ChemFFX - Risk Assessment • On previous screen Choosing either: • continuous release/emission • Intermittent release/emission • Brings you to this screen • Select from these 3 options • Then OK to return to previous screen

  12. ChemFFX - Risk Assessment NOTE: from choices already made, the ‘system’ has selected PPE RECS Personal Protective Equipment is required on this Risk Assessment Click on the PPE RECS Red button to view the options chosen and add extra, if required

  13. ChemFFX - Risk Assessment See Mandatory PPE Recommendations for this material Click on “CHEMWATCH RECOMMENDATIONS” to see default options Click on “OWN RECOMMENDATIONS” to see Chemwatch recommendations and make your own alterations/additions

ChemFFX - Risk Assessment Select “BACK” button to return to previous screen Check List = Back to original checklist Respiratory= options for Respiratory PPE required Clothing= options for PPE Clothing required Gloves= options for PPE Gloves required Glasses = options for PPE Glasses required Others= type other options for PPE required Note also, the Risk Codes selected for this material indicating the type of Filter required.

ChemFFX - Risk Assessment Control Measures: Ventilation Natural- no mechanical ventilation; windows/vents at opposite ends of the building General- mechanical ventilation, such as air conditioning Local- mechanical ventilation at specific work area, such as an exhaust fan, fume hood or air jet to absorb fumes. Other options: Isolated process- a barrier or remote control system between the chemical and the worker Enclosed - chemicals completely sealed off from worker PPE RECS (as shown on previous screens in the presentation)

  16. ChemFFX - Risk Assessment You can choose to have the system “Auto-assess” (automatically finish the assessment) from the choices already made or ‘Self-assess’ at this point.

  17. ChemFFX - Risk Assessment Once selections made click on ‘OK’ to complete the Risk Assessment ** Your Risk Assessment is valid for 5 years as is your MSDS. If the Risk assessment is done during the final year that the MSDS is valid it too will expire when the MSDS does. **

  18. ChemFFX - Risk Assessment See the material we chose has a green Arrow tick indicating a Risk Assessment has been done: These coloured boxes indicate the Risk Conclusions. Click to open

  19. ChemFFX - Risk Assessment Click Yellow box(right) to see (left) risk conclusions for this material To add notes, click the red box beside your material for a notes screen

  20. ChemFFX - Risk Assessment This is the notes screen Select ADD to Open another box for your notes

  22. ChemFFX - Risk Assessment This is the notes screen Your notes appear here! And on your copy of this Risk Assessment (below PPE Recommendations) Select ‘X’ to return to Stores material list

  23. ChemFFX - Risk Assessment To Print: Go back into the Check List by clicking on green tick.

  25. EXIT Back to Risk Assessment ChemFFX - Risk Assessment Print Preview appears with your local area network Printer window.

  26. EXIT the Risk Assessment OR ‘BACK’ returns you to Store materials list ChemFFX - Risk Assessment

  27. ChemFFX - Risk Assessment EXIT Store Materials List To print a Risk Assessment for ALL materials in this Store select SUMMARY button

  28. Select Print ChemFFX - Risk Assessment Name of Store for which this summary has been created

  29. EXIT Back to Risk Assessment ChemFFX - Risk Assessment Print Preview appears with your local area network Printer window.

  30. BACK Returns you to Materials list for this store EXIT Takes you back to Very first screen before selecting Store for Risk Assessment ChemFFX - Risk Assessment

  31. ChemFFX - Risk Assessment EXIT Store Materials List

  32. ChemFFX - Risk Assessment Select Materials to return to original screen ready to perform other functions.
