Mrs. Morgan in a Nutshell • Exchange student in France, Jamaica, and England • B.A. in French and Global Studies, M.A. in International Service • Received my Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential from Sonoma State University • Mother of 3 boys: Aidan (13), Avery (11), Liam (7) • Have taught preschool, kindergarten, 1st grade, 3rd grade, and 4th grade

Rules and Rewards Positive Incentives • Student of the Month: New format: Teachers will be handing out SOM awards in class each month. 4 times this year, we will gather in Bobcat Hall for a special achievement awards assembly. At each assembly, 8 students will receive a special achievement award. Dates are to be determined. • Tickets to be used towards rewards agreed upon by students and teacher • Homework Pass for Student of the Month, Achievement Awards and Birthdays • Desk Group Tally Winners = • 10 tickets • Whole Class Point Challenges = • Classroom Celebration

Rules and Rewards Student of the Month Criteria • Student of the Month awards each month in class • All Homework: neat/complete/on-time (HW Journal and Math) • Appropriate classroom behavior • Appropriate playground and cafeteria behavior • Appropriate behavior in enrichment classes • Library books returned ON TIME, prepared for other enrichments (P.E. clothes, instruments, etc.). • Exemplifies “Pillars of Character”

Consequences Behavioral Consequences • Warning= Moved from green, “Off to a great start,” to yellow, “Warning.” • Orange= Refocus or Incident Report Form to be filled out by student and signed by parent • Red= Pink Slip to be signed by parent. Contact home will be made. Student sent to Detention. • 3 Pink Slips = Office Referral

  10. Typical Nightly Homework • Homework will be recorded in your children’s agendas every day, Monday-Thursday. Please check in with your child about his/her homework and check that it meets your level of expectation. • Reading to be recorded in agendas next to icon of reading person at the bottom of the page. Students are to record title of A.R. book and page numbers or chapters read. Mon – Thurs (20 min.) • Math: Quick Check. 3-5 problems with a “Writing to Explain” question each night. Nightly math facts practice. • Language Arts: Iconic Prompt Reading Response Journal (HW Journal). One question per night as assigned. A.C.E.S. format required. • Extra Homework: Unfinished class assignments, typing practice on Typing Agent (can be accessed from Student Links at home).

  12. Final Thoughts • Wanted: Classroom Photographer(s) to take and share photos with Yearbook Staff. • Prizes for Prize Boxes (3 levels): Bouncy balls, erasers, pencils, notepads, little games, etc. • Signups  • Volunteers • Can you find your child’s Mini Me on bulletin board? .
