This study investigates the performance differences between Downflow Trickle Bed Reactors (TBR) and Upflow Packed Bubble Columns (PBC) under various conditions, focusing on the effects of fines, gas and liquid limitations, and unsteady state operations. Through experimental analysis and modeling, we assess flow distribution, pressure drop, and liquid holdup in TBRs. Additionally, we explore a complex reaction network aimed at enhancing the selectivity and productivity of a herbicide intermediate, while also evaluating viscosity and phase behavior of polymer solutions in supercritical solvents.
