  2. Who are we? Stanford University Undergraduate Students Graduate Students Postdocs Faculty Staff Alumni Spouses … who love to swim, bike, and run, recreationally and competitively.
  3. Mission Statement To encourage participation in the sport of triathlon within the Stanford community and provide a venue in which athletes of all abilities can train and develop To compete as a team at the most elite level in the conference and the nation

  6. What is a triathlon? A multisport event consisting of swimming, biking, and running In-season collegiate races are Sprint Distance 400 to 750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run Championship collegiate races are Olympic Distance 1500 m swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run
  7. Why should I join SUTT? Professional coaching and access to the training plan via Training Peaks Motivated training partners of all levels Subsidized racing Exceptional sponsor deals Team social events Cool people.
  8. What equipment do I need? Required equipment Swimsuit and goggles Bike and helmet Team bike rental (contact Andrew Roos) Running shoes Suggested equipment Bike shorts and jersey Clipless pedals and bike shoes Everything carbon fiber…
  9. How do I join SUTT? Fill out forms Register for IMLeagues(Waiver AND Health forms) Complete team registration form (online) Sign a non-disclosure agreement (online) Join two mailing lists (xxx@lists.stanford.edu): “Triathlon” (official team business) “Triathlon-misc” (less serious) Pay Dues Come to practice and races!  All information is available at triathlon.stanford.edu  Getting Started
  10. Members in “Good Standing” Complete this: Signed proper forms Pay dues The Stanford Fund duties Team jobs Volunteer at Treeathlon To get this: Reimbursement, coaching (TP), sponsorship deals
  11. Team Dues Pay by check or cash to Shannon, Eirik, or John B. Pay online (+$5) DUE: Oct 11th(Next Friday) USAT Membership $45/year $12?/race
  12. TSF (The Stanford Fund) TSF gives the team $$ for “volunteering” Fall Quarter Requirements: 5 postcards* 4 hours of Reunion Homecoming (Oct 17-20) Can substitute Lunch N Learn and/or Philanthropy Week volunteering Check your email! (from: Amy) *Required to re-write postcards if rejected by TSF
  13. Team Jobs Academic year requirement: 12 hours team jobs for non-Nationals individuals 16 hours for Nationals athletes Accounting: P/VP/FO keep track of these Please be honest, round to the nearest 0.5 hour Officers get 6 hours team jobs for attending team meetings

Race Subsidies Team pays for: Race registration (up to collegiate entry amount) Hotel Vehicle fuel* $20 Co-pay per race (exl. drivers) Fall: 1 race (Davis Aquathlon or Salmon Duathlon) Winter: 3 WCCTC races WCCTC Championship Nationals (later) Spring/Summer: $50 reimbursement toward Wildflower, Age Group Nationals, or a “team focus” summer race (TBD) Must be “on track” per quarter for TSF and Team Jobs to get reimbursed * Must follow the race coordinator’s carpooling plan

Nationals Tempe, AZ – April, 2014 Unlimited number of athletes Team provides financial support (details later) Greater support for selected “top athletes” Selection based on performance at in-season and WCCTC Championship races Requirements for eligibility Must be a full-time student for at least one quarter Must be 28 years of age or younger on race day Watch email for interest meeting soon

Training Plans Level I Athletes with less than 2 years experience in Triathlon and limited background in swimming, running, and biking who may want to compete at collegiate races 4 to 6 workouts per week Level III Athletes with 2 to 3 years triathlon experience or 2+ years as a varsity athlete in swimming, running, or biking who want to compete at collegiate races and score points at Conference 6 to 9 practices per week Level V Athletes with 3+ years triathlon experience and may have multiple years experience as a varsity athlete in swimming, running, or biking who want to compete at collegiate races, score points at Conference, and be on the National Team 9 to 12 workouts per week You may follow different training groups for different disciplines!
