  2. “Be Comfortable in your own skin!” Although she is mainly known for her sex appeal and reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, she actually does more than that. Kim Kardashian was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease psoriasis. • Psoriasis is a skin condition that make red patches of dry skin appear on the knees, elbows, torso and scalp. • Psoriasis “occurs when the immune system send out faulty signals that speed up the growth cycle of skin cells.” [James] • “30 percent of all cases, the disease can develop into Psoriasis Arthritis” [James] • The disease can cause other serious health problems such as heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity and depression.

  3. She’s a Leader? Kim Kardashian is a red carpet model, reality star, sexual icon, and a television personality. • If Kim is walking down the red carpet and wearing a short dress designed by Dolce and Gabbana and her psoriasis is exposed, that creates bad publicity for not only her but Dolce and Gabbana as well. With that being said, after Kim was diagnosed with psoriasis, she publicly announced that she does have the disease and that she is getting treated for it. • This action has encouraged not only many women but also celebrities to come forth and also say they have psoriasis.

  4. Foundations Kim Works With • Dream Foundation: Kim donates used clothing to raise money which goes toward granting wishes for adults with life restricting illnesses • Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation: Kim threw a big charity event to raise money for underprivileged youth in urban cities to have access and be exposed to art • Other foundations and charities: • Generation Rescue • Diamond Empowerment Fund • American Foundation for AIDS Research • I Heart My Girlfriends • Mattel Children's Hospital • Nancy Davis Foundation for Multiple Sclerosis • National Psoriasis Foundation • Operation Once in a Lifetime • Soles4Souls • The Salvation Army • True Colors Fund
