2. Letter from the President Dear Training and Learning Professionals,
It's difficult to imagine where 2006 ran off to. Now we are
coming into 2007 along with all the wonderful opportunities that
we can imagine. I implore you to take an hour without the
Blackberry, without the email or phone, and just fantasize about
what the New Year could be and then how you will ensure that it
happens.
What do you dislike about your position now? Instead of stooping
to that level and complaining about it, take the high road and
search out for the better. Soar instead of being a bore! We are
leaders in our organizations; act like one! Jot down 5 to 10
goals that you want to accomplish. Put dates down by each
item. Rational ones, not just because they look good on
paper. Your goals may entail Family, traveling, taking classes
at the university, or even relaxation time. These are the goals
that are important and include personal growth as well.
Make 2007 a year that you will imagine your Best! Perhaps 2007
is the year that you and your company wins the Tribute to
Learning! What a coup that would be. Set those goals high.
Eagles soar, and snails leave trails. Have a Banner Year! We
hope to see you many times this year. We start off with
Deborah Thomas-Nininger speaking to us about Reputation
Management. It continues to get better!
Have a Wonderful and Safe New Year!
Rick Hunt

6. Heart Centered Leadership presented by Cheryl Tyler Cheryl Tyler, President, Human Resources and Training Solutions, will be presenting Heart Centered
Leadership. Providing a counterpoint to the ethical bankruptcy of contemporary business, Heart-Centered
Leadership champions the message that sound ethical practices must begin from within. This kind of
leadership is a personal choice, and involves the whole person: body, mind and spirit.
Through the application of seven underlying principles and virtues, we describe a clear path from the
moment you are inspired to be a heart-centered leader through the process of developing the healthy
attitudes and responsive actions needed to convert your inspiration into reality. This focus—inward,
mindful striving to “do the right thing” and become the best person you can be sets this path to leadership
apart from other strategies. Today’s leaders must be able to connect with, respect and show value to
associates amidst challenges like intense time pressures & limited resources. That means that heart
centered leadership—characterized by care, concern, honesty and humility is not a “soft” skill but a
“dollars & cents” one.
Cheryl will present an overview of the seven principles of heart-centered leadership
Know Thyself Don't Assume
Don't Judge Come to Understand
They Need What You Need Letting Go
Know the Impact of Your Words and Action
