  2. Class Topics: 5th Grade • Class 1: State of the World Languages Class • Class 2: SOAP • Class 3: Honesty and Homework

Students will be must be held accountable to fill in honest times Vocabulary guides are mandatory during RS Students will have graded task lists (agendas) every week so they can work independently Proud of the true language learning Disappointed that some students are not on track with their time goals Frustrated when students are disrespectful Excited when I work with students in conversation groups Many students are not on track to complete the 25 hour goal Vocabulary packets are not used consistently Students has strong task sheet grades Students are growing in independence We may have some honesty issues with homework Students need better guidelines on vocabulary guides Agendas help students to stay accountable Many students are ready to pursue independent language learning

Homework due dates Homework from the previous rotation will be checked on the first day you are in World Languages each rotation: • A day- Connolly • B day- Bauer, Burris, Carter • C day- Parrish, Johnston This homework sheet must be signed by you and your parents and turned into your homework bin by January 27th (A), January 30th (B) January 31st (C).

  8. What’s the purpose of the Rosetta Stone Vocabulary Packet?

  9. Criteria for vocabulary packets • You must complete the packet before moving onto the next Unit • Ask Mrs. Kuipers to sign your current packet • You are responsible to use your packet EVERY TIME you sign onto Rosetta Stone

  10. Wiki Survey • Using the new Link to Languages Wiki on the homepage of your computer, complete the State of World Languages Wiki Survey

  12. SOAP • Task: Using your RS report (which you printed off last class) complete the SOAP chart. When you finish, complete the wiki survey titled Class 3: SOAP • Time: 25 minutes • Expectations: • Students work independently • Students complete work in 20 minutes • Students HONESTLY complete the SOAP chart

  18. Taking a closer look • Task: Find your recorded homework dates on the Rosetta Stone report. • Materials: Rosetta Stone Report (you will print), November/December homework sheet, highlighter, • Time: 15 minutes

  19. Taking a closer look Directions: • 1. Print your RS report to printer 2051 • 2. Take your RS report, Nov/Dec homework, and a highlighter to a quiet place in the room • 3. Independently, find the dates you recorded in your RS report and highlight the date and time. • 4. When you finish, quietly come back to your seat • 5. Update your time thermometer while you wait for the class to come back together.
