  1. Session Two: PEOPLE

  2. THE LEFT OUTS

  3. THE DROP OUTS

  4. THE LOCKED OUTS

  5. THE OPT OUTS

  6. DO YOU SEE PEOPLE? • LEFT OUTS • DROP OUTS • LOCKED OUTS • OPT OUTS

  7. PEOPLE • Evangelism is not about prospects, it is about people! • See People first! The question is not “what can they do for us?” but rather, “what Christ can do for them!” • Luke 5 – The calling of the disciples illustrates Jesus’ ability to see the need and potential of people. • WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT MATTHEW (LEVI)? • JESUS SEES THE NEED AND POTENTIAL OF EVERYONE.

  8. PEOPLE • Matt. 9:36 is a summary of Jesus’ ministry. “When He saw the crowds, He felt compassion for them.” • When Jesus sees people, He sees their pain and hopelessness. • Do you think people without Jesus are helpless and hopeless? • It’s not simply that hope exists, the truth is that you represent that hope!

  9. How to Draw People to Jesus • 1) Use bait. • 2) Be approachable. Luke 8:2 “A man with a serious skin disease came up and knelt before Him.” • 3) Put people’s needs over institutions and regulations. John 5:6 The man by the pool of Bethesda is a pitiful story. “Do you want to get well”? Lk. 13:10-17 Jesus heals a woman disabled for 18 years. Leader of the synagogue shows more concern for animals than for people.

  10. How to Draw People to Jesus • 4) Do the unexpected. • Jesus spoke to the Samaritan woman. • He invited Himself to the home of Zacchaeus. • He went to the home of Simon the leper and allowed a woman to anoint Him with oil. Mark 14:3-11

  11. How to Draw People to Jesus • 5) Look for those who appear invisible to others. Zacchaeus was a hated tax collector. Mt. 15:23 Canaanite mother cried for liberation of her daughter and disciples are embarrassed by her behavior. • Can you list other invisible people Jesus saw? Lepers, fallen women, children, known sinners, tax collectors, political leaders. • Left outs, Locked outs, Drop outs, Opt outs?

  12. Questions to Ponder • What did Jesus see that led Him to select the disciples? • What did Jesus see in us? • Why did Jesus notice people others overlooked?

  13. Questions to Ponder • Who are the “invisible people” in your sphere of influence? • How can I become more approachable? • What unexpected act of kindness can I do this week?
