  3. More interesting Facts Part of the Sahara Desert is in Libya. In the Sahara Desert an asteroid probably hit earth ( nobody’s sure ) exposing rock from millions of years ago . It spreads 50km in diameter. It can also be seen from space . It’s known as the deserts eye. It’s in Mauritania.

  4. History Libya is a giant-sized Desert country in north Africa with a tiny population which lives mainly on the fertile strip on the coast of the Mediterranean sea. The Italians were attracted by this farmland and in 1911 Made Libya their colony. The British drove them out during World War 2. In 1951 Libya became an independent monarchy. The King was overthrown in 1969 by Colonel Muammar Quaddafi. Muammar Quaddafi changed the nature of Libya , making friends

He replaced the traditional government with commities which were given the task of running the country. He even invented a new word to describe his country: ‘Jamahiriya’ Which means ‘Nation of people’. Libya's wealth comes from an oilfield in the desert. Muammar Quaddafi Muammar Quaddafi was killed on the 20/10/11 after taking over Libya for 42 years. 2 Months earlier he lost all his power and was hiding in a drain pipe waiting for someone to either save him or kill him. He was caught and shot in the two legs he was than beaten up and died of all his wounds. Every place in Libya people celebrated because they now have freedom. He took over Libya the same way as Hitler took over lots of Europe.
