UNIT 2: Revolutions! • Feel free to create a cover page later in your notebook to mark the beginning of our new unit.
Revolutions! • Sept. 30 - Oct. 1, 2013 • Students willanalyze key components of a revolution with a gallery walk and written responses.
Homework • Finish EOG Review vocabulary cards. See previous lesson for word list.
Warm-Up Include the question in your answer. 1. What is a revolution? 2. What are the causes of revolutions? 3. What effects result from revolutions? Think-Pair-Share with your seatmate.
Gallery Walk • You and your seatmate will have 3 minutes at each picture. • Discuss with your seatmate how each event is a ‘revolution’. • Answer “What is the change in this event?” Record your conclusions in your notebook.
After Gallery Walk – Individual Work • Refine your definition of a revolution in your notebook. • Continue writing in paragraph form by citing two separate examples from the gallery walk to support your definition. • End with a conclusion sentence. Use RACE: “For example, according to the picture….”
With your group, collaborate to create a sentence strip that best defines a revolution. • Make sure your group definition is in your notebook.
assessment • Name one thing that revolutions might have in common. • If you were absent today, please see Mrs. Dolinger for gallery pictures.
