  2. What is a Spray Tan? • The application of chemicals to the skin to produce an effect similar in appearance to a suntan.

  3. What is in Spray Tan? DHA What is that? Dihydroxyacetone What? a colorless chemical (derived from glycerin) that interacts with the amino acids in dead skin cells to produce a brown color change.

  4. What Are the Risks? • Contact dermatitis- a skin reactionresulting from exposure to allergens or irritants. • Higher Risk of Sunburn and or Sun poisoning • Discoloring of skin

  5. Spray Tan Vs. Tanning Bed • DHA in the spray tan has a enzymatic reaction with the amino acids in the outer layer, or epidermis of the skin, causing the dead skin cells to turn temporarily dark.The UV lights used in tanning beds penetrate into the deepest layers of skin. • That's why they cause lasting damage.
