  1. ‘Where your talents and the needs of the world cross, there lies your vocation.’ Aristotle To do well in anything you need talent…

  2. ‘To every man there comes in his lifetime that special moment when he is figuratively tapped on the shoulder and offered the chance to do a very special thing, unique to him and fitted to his talents. What a tragedy if that moment finds him unprepared or unqualified for the work which could be his finest hour.’ Winston Churchill But what do you when you are up against people just as talented as you… What do you do when talent is not enough?

  3. T-Cup Thinking Correctly Under Pressure

  4. “Self-actualisation is the the desire to become more and more what one is, to become everything that one is capable of becoming.”… This is achieved by • Talent… Must have this to start but also… • Teachability…

  5. Teachability… Which one are you…?

  6. “Self-actualisation is the the desire to become more and more what one is, to become everything that one is capable of becoming.”… This is achieved by • Talent… Must have this to start but also… • Teachability… be a spoonge not a rock… you don’t know all the answers but you want to know them! • Pressure…

  7. Pressure… • ‘Being comfortable with pressure’…. • Don’t fight it… its there for a reason…use it to your advantage! • Practice being in high pressure situations. • Jonny Wilkinson would set high pressure situations up, for example kicking from the corner flag, to help him prepare for matches. • Wilkinson believes that if you can kick from an impossible angle or distance you are more prepared for a realistic angle and distance during games and in fact it becomes easier. So pressure is certainly something you can train yourself to cope with better. • How can you apply this to your own studies?

  8. “Self-actualisation is the the desire to become more and more what one is, to become everything that one is capable of becoming.”… This is achieved by • Talent… Must have this to start but also… • Teachability… be a spoonge not a rock… you don’t know all the answers but you want to know them! • Pressure…‘Being comfortable with pressure’….use it to motivate and focus you! • Attitude…

  9. Attitude… • 1) Obsession (he says it is actually a good thing to be obsessive about the big and smaller details if you want to be better than the rest of the talented people you compete against)
2) Punctuality (definitely a major one for me as a teacher! Woodward believes that being on time says a lot about who you are as a person. In the 2003 World Cup no one was ever late to a meeting!)
3) Assume nothing (always be prepared for the unexpected)
4) Responsibility (take responsibility when you loose, if there is a problem with your game fix it don’t ignore it)
5) Enjoyment (of course this is essential for intrinsic motivation, an athlete should never forget why they started playing their sport in the first place)
6) Execution (be precise in what you do in a game, whether it is a pass, a kick, make it right)
7) Team (be part of a bigger team and not just an individual)
8) Trust (essential if you are to work as an effective team who believes in each other)
9) Collaboration (communicate and share ideas as 15 brains are better than just 1)
10) Beyond number 1 (you have to go above and beyond if you want to be better than the best).

  10. • Attitude… 10 behaviours

  11. T-Cup • Take control as your future is in your hands!
