  2. Location and population • Rome is the capital of Italy and also of the Province of Rome and of the region of Lazio. With 2.7 million residents in it is also the country's largest and most populated comune and fourth-most populous city in the European Union.

  5. BUILDINGS AND SIGHTS • Saint Peter's Basilica, the world's largest church, is the center of Christianity. The imposing structure was built over a span of more than one hundred years by the greatest Italian architects of the era.

  6. The Arch of Titus is one of two remaining arches on the Forum Romanum. The triumphal arch was built in 81-85 AD to commemorate the capture of Jerusalem over the Jewish Zealots.

  7. Most people regard the Ponte Sant'Angelo as the most beautiful bridge in Rome. Its origin goes back to the second century AD; the famous statues of angels that flank the bridge were added in the seventeenth century.

  12. Roberto Rossellini was one of the most famous Italian film directors from the first half of the 20th century.

  13. Eros Ramazzotti is famous Italian singer and songwriter from Rome.  He is very well known all around the Europe and especially in Spain and Latin America, due to his songs sang in Spanish.
