  3. Goal Main goal of the project was to assist three CRESSIDA Municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina to improve water quality and living conditions in the project area.

  4. Main problem identified ILEGAL WASTE DUMPS ON DRINA RIVER BANKS Most of this waste ends up in the Drina River which causes many problems, both for wildlife and for the population.

  5. Results • Municipal inter-entity cooperation strengthened through signing joint MoU • Reduced number of illegal wild dumps on the Drina River Banks (in project region) by 10% through organization of joint cleaning actions • 75 pupils educated through 3 joint workshops (in three different municipalities) focused on importance of cleanliness and water quality of the Drina River • Improved cleanliness of Drina River Banks in project region through organization of joint cleaning actions and placing garbage metal cans (80 pieces) on the banks and schoolyards • Citizen’s inter-entity relationships improved through participation on joint cleaning actions and other project promotional events (kick-off and Closing Event) • Raised citizens and students awareness through participation on workshop and delivering promotional materials and TV reportage on water quality (leaflets 5.000, 1 TV Reportage, 120 T-shirts). The leaflet provided information to help residents, stakeholders, and policy makers understand the complex issues around improving water quality, find out what Ecology is doing to clean up our waters, and help each person learn what they can do to help keep our rivers clean.

Future Collaboration • Preparation of project documentation and construction of wastewater treatment of industrial water • The construction of the collector and the wastewater treatment plant for the municipality of Novo Gorazde and Gorazde municipality - project cost about 12,000,000.00 KM (Project partners: Višegrad, Novo Gorazde, Gorazde and competent entity Directorate for Water) • Removal of illegal dumps from coastal areas of the river Drina • Regulation of torrential streams
