  14. SPANISH IS GOVERNED BY THE SPOKEN, NOT THE WRITTEN FORM, SO ACCENTS CAN BE WORKED OUT BY PRONUNCIATION. IF A WORD ENDS IN A VOWEL OR N OR S, THE NATURAL STRESS OF THE PRONUNCIATION SHOULD BE ON THE SECOND LAST SYLLABLE. IF A WORD ENDS IN OTHER CONSONANTS, THE NATURAL STRESS SHOULD BE ON THE LAST SYLLABLE. IF A WORD BREAKS THESE PRONUNCIATION RULE, AN ACCENT LIKE é WILL BE ADDED TO SHOW WHERE THE STRESS IS.
