The 5 Hour Requirement • Must be off-campus, but within Onondaga County • Can be at more than one location • Can be paid or unpaid • It is OK if the student is earning credit from another class for the community service (i.e. PAF 110 and WRT 205) • Must be for a nonprofit or government agency • WALKS/RUNS/FUNDRAISERS do NOT count • Coplinand DekaDancil are the only people allowed to approve sites

  3. 5 Hour Requirment Grading Policies • 5 Hour Community Service Form • 2-part form • Due November 4th(NOTE: Module 4 is due November 11) • Students who do not complete requirement or fail to turn in form at all will automatically lose 35 points on Module 4 • Late forms • 5 points deducted if handed in by the end of November 4 • 10points for each additional day up until November 6 NOTE: Students do not GAIN 35 points from fulfilling the 5 hour requirement, they can only LOSE up to 35 points on Module 4.

  4. NOTE: Literacy Corps, any other paid community service, and tutor training classes do NOT count for e.c. Extra Credit Options NOTE: There is no form to fill out for early community service hours, the date is simply circled on the 5 Hour Community Service Form. • MAXIMUM of 15 points, to be added to Mod. 5 • Early community service hours • Maximum of 5 extra credit points • 1 point per hour • Must be done before Friday, October 21 • Must be marked and date circled on 5 Hour Community Service Form • Extra community service hours • Maximum of 10 extra credit points • 1 point per hour • Auto 10+ points for: • PAF 110, currently taking • PAF 110, previously taken + a written paragraph • SU Ambulance • Extra Credit Community Service Form due Friday, December 2 NOTE: There IS a form for extra hours of community service. There is no written requirement for extra credit like there is on the 5 Hour Community Service Form.

  5. Collection of Forms & Dates • Friday, September 23 • Students must email TAs their community service plans before class begins • Failure to do so will result in a 5 point deduction on Module 3 • Friday, November 4 • 5 Hour Community Service Form Due • Friday, December 2 • Extra Credit Community Service Form due • No forms will be collected after 12:50pm
