When a word has two vowels that are separated by consonants…you can divide them into syllables to make them easier to read and spell!
Rule 1. • When there are 2 consonants between the vowels. Divide them “smack dab” down the middle. • sunfish • tennis • cactus

Rule 2 • For now, when there is only one consonant, that consonant is needed to close in the first syllable! • relish • habit
