This hat focuses on the information. • Facts • Neutral information • Primary and Secondary Sources
The black hat is concerned with truth and reality. • Critical thinking. • Prevents us from making mistakes.
Is a positive and optimistic hat. • It looks at all the positives of an idea. • Seeks to find the benefits of an idea.
This is the active hat. • Creative thinking. • Emphasis on the new. • Concerned with: • Proposals • Suggestions • New ideas • New alternatives • New solutions or inventions
Concerned with thinking about thinking! • Manage the thinking process.
Your task: Make your own de Bono’s Hat • Get yourselves into groups of 4 or 5 and find a spot in the room. • You will each be given an A4 piece of paper to design your hat. • You will need to discuss and vote on which hat you will make out of the cardboard. • As a group you will construct a cardboard prototype. • You will then present your prototype to the class and teachers.
