  3. I. Repentance is Not… • Coming Forward • Conviction of Sins • Fear • Sorrow for Sin • Sorrow and Confession of sin

  4. II. Definition of Words Two Words in Greek Matt. 27:3 – Judas “when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself,” Acts 2:38 - “Repent and be baptized”

  5. Matt. 27:3“repented himself” Feeling of regret or concern “to care afterwards” NKJV = remorseful Remorse - regret or guilt for a wrong committed

  6. Acts 2:38 - “Repent” “After” - “Mind” Change ones mind afterwards About Sin – change ones mind in regard to sin Repentance is a change of attitude, change of mind or heart Leads to a change in conduct

  7. III. Four things involved in Bible Repentance 1. Right Attitude Toward Sin 2. Right Attitude Toward God 3. Right Attitude Toward Self 4. Right Attitude Toward Others

  8. 1. Right Attitude Toward Sin II Cor. 7:9 NKJV “Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing.”

  9. 1. Right Attitude Toward Sin II Cor. 7:10 NKJV “For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.” Give Up Sin Quit

  14. IV. Why Does God tell Men to Repent ? All have sinned Sin will send us to hell Jesus died for our sins A day of Judgment is coming

  15. Necessary to be saved Repentance Preceded by Faith Followed by Confession Followed by Baptism

  16. Repentance An act of the mind by which the sinner decides to forsake his sins and turn to God to serve Him for the rest of his life. A way of life - changed attitude toward sin

  17. Repentance Led to repent by preaching Rom. 2:4 His will that we all repent II Pet. 3:9 Will you repent ?
