Acute Effects • Increased glucose uptake into active muscle, which is not impaired by insulin-resistance A/ • Physical activity can improve systemic insulin action for 2-72 hours post-exercise A/ • Low risk of hypoglycemia with moderate intensity PA in those not using insulin or secretagogues C/ • Acute effects of resistance exercise in persons with impaired fasting glucose lead to lower fasting glucose for at least 24 hours.
