Just The Linked-In Facts • Now 100Million Professionals Have some kind of profile. • As of May 21 there were 927,999Groups • 2,169,124Company Page Results • Almost 300,000+ Staffing Professionals • Linked-In is in over 200 countries. • Linked-In has representation from Executives of ALL Fortune 500 Giants • 69 of the Fortune 100 used LinkedIn’s Recruiting Solutions in 2010 • LI IPO on 5/20/2011 ended the day at $94.25 – highest single IPO since Google.

Basic Components Of A Linked-In Profile • Name & Picture • Current Job Title OR Professional Occupation Headline • Summary Section • Twitter Link • List of Current Employers/Job Titles • Applications Which Can Show: What Books You’ve Read, What Trips You Have Taken, Presentations You Have Prepared, Connect to Your Personal Blog And MUCH More • Recommendations From Past Colleagues/Bosses/Clients • Groups You Are A Part Of • Educational Background • Lists of Hobbies/Awards/Interests • A Link To Personal Websites as well as a customizable Link that Can Act as your own Personal Info Site • There is also a printable PDF Icon that can be used for informational purposes. • You Don’t Need Everything, But having more parts makes you more compelling. • Linked-In Will have a Blue Bar suggesting different areas to add to complete your profile. Use this for suggestions to get to 100%.

Linked-In Best Practices For Profiles • Have a Professional Business Photograph with A White Background in Business Professional Attire • Get at least 2 Recommendations for Each Job You have worked in. • On Linked-In Recruiters Run Searches By Key Word, Do a Search on Indeed.com or SimplyHired.com to find Job Descriptions for your current field to find Key Words that will assist with your Linked-In Search Engine Optimization Strategy – This helps you to be “Found”. Have Key Words spread out through Linked-In Profile • Include Presentations, A Copy of Your Resume, Books You Have Read, etc. All of this can be done by using the applications Link under your Edit Link. • On Linked-In Status Updates, you can include an update and create a YouTube Video Link for further self-branding, for example perhaps a one minute summary on video with you selling yourself from YouTube to show why you are the best person for the job, best product offering, etc. • A Link to your Industry Blog can be a great way for self branding. • Include your Linked-In Public Profile Link on Business Cards, Resume, Personal Website, Company Page, etc. • Your Brand Awareness is all about having up-to-date and compelling information. • Include Email in Your Summary And in Your Headline so people can contact you. An email that you are comfortable using is best and enables contact. You can create a special email just for Linked-In, or use your common personal email address.

Linked-In Groups • A Key part of success in using Linked-In Is Joining Groups • You can: • Send Messages to Networking Contacts That Share Your Interests • Participate In Discussion Forums • See Jobs Posted • See News, Events, etc. • Possibly Promote Your Business/Job Search • Get A Group Logo On Your Profile • You can join up to 50 Groups.

Linked-In Groups To Join: • For LDS Professionals: LDS Professionals, BYU Management Society, Bay Area LDS Professionals, Local Bay Area Management Society Groups: BYU Management Society Silicon Valley Chapter, Monterey Chapter, San Francisco Chapter, East Bay Chapter • For Job Seekers These Are Good To Join – Linked HR, JOBS, or put down your Industry/Profession and Join the Largest Group, You can also join Regionally Based Groups – Connect SV, Linked Bay Area, etc. • There are groups for just about anything.

  22. Companies • You can Search For Companies, and Follow Companies on Linked-In, some companies may have some detailed information as well as a jobs Link. You can see who works at the company and who you might network with.

  23. Jobs • Linked-In has beefed up its Job information offerings, as well as an ability to apply to Jobs on Linked-In itself. Select Jobs to search for Jobs in your field as well as who is sponsoring the job. • You can run a search for Recruiters and Staffing Professionals by Looking at the Advanced Feature on Linked-In, and entering company and job title. • In Groups, you can search for those who share your interests and increase your chances of making a connection.
