  2. Toolbar with AIM Icon • Should log on immediate • Looks like this if you are NOT logged in: • Double click to see the sign on screen

  3. Sign on screen

  4. Firewall • Click setup • Click Connection

  5. Connection • Click Auto Configure

  6. Automatic Configuration

  7. Configuring…

  8. Success!

  9. Now click “Sign On”

  10. Toolbar with AIM icon ON • Now your AIM icon should look like this:

  11. Buddy List

  12. Set up Buddy list

  13. Add a Buddy

  14. Send an IM • Choose a Buddy from your Buddy list • Double click on her screen name • A window will open:

  15. Emoticons • Type your message in the box and hit Enter to send it • You can use emoticons (smiley faces) by clicking the yellow smiley face to bring up a menu

  16. IMing • Your screen name will appear in red next to what you typed

  17. IMing • Your buddy’s screen name will appear in blue • If you can’t see the entire conversation, remember to scroll up!

  18. What if I’m doing something else? • Take a look at the tool bar • If you have an open IM window, it will look like this:

  19. If someone sends you a message while you’re doing something else, the IM will start blinking blue in your toolbar:

  20. Away Messages • If you are stepping away from your computer, put up an Away Message

  21. Add a New Away Message

  22. Set AIM “Away”

  23. Minimize the Buddy List
