  8. OUR “TOOLS” • PRIMARY SOURCE: • Roman Missal, ordo • Lectionary • Constitution the Sacred Liturgy • Rite Books: Initiation, Funeral, Confirmation, etc. • SECONDARY SOURCE (Examples) • MUSIC: Sing to the Lord. • ART: Built of Living Stones • How to Form a Parish Liturgy Committee

SAMPLE LITURGY COMMITTEE AGENDA • PRAY – consider using evening prayer from www.ebreviary.comor use the opening prayer from Mass • STUDY – Read together • CSL, paragraphs (continue at next meeting) • Opening prayer for Sunday • Gospel for the coming 4 weeks • ACT • Rite – presider needs, musicians, coordinate extra rites, etc. • Word – prepare presider, lector, music based on readings, homilist • Communion and community – hospitality, catechesis on how to participate actively, communal spiritual formation • Mission – Each ministry as a mirror to do Christ’s mission in daily life (hospitality, justice, love, compassion, . . ) • SUMMARIZE actions taken and assignments made • NEXT MEETING – agree on date and time

  12. We are sheep who go to the manger to feed on Christ who is there in Word and Sacrament.God’s promise to us is the manger will always be full.

CHURCH PRESCRIBES • Ask what is vision of the Church for parish liturgy that we should implement? • What does Roman Missal and the Lectionary tell us about doing the liturgy well? • What art is already in the church to maintain and enhance to catechize

Worksheet Review the 2 column worksheet you did in Part One of this workshop. • Do any of the elements listed earlier need to be changed, deleted, or added to at this point? • List the tools you do not have now but will need. • Schedule a time when your pastor can help committee members to learn how to use the Ordo and the Roman Missal.

Foundation • Sunday Eucharist is the central action of parish life. • Our Sacramental principle: Creation, humanity, and human deeds hold and reveal the presence of God in the world. • “Sacramental life and celebration flourish when all parish ministers, especially those responsible for catechesis and liturgy, work together and share the vision.” (A Common Sense for Parish Life, LTP)
