  1. HOW TO LOCATE ELECTRONIC PERIODICALS AT THE CSUS LIBRARY FOR PROFESSOR CAPRON’S ASSIGNMENT By Ben Amata Criminal Justice Librarian

  2. Step 1 Go to the Library’s web page to find a database that contains your periodical http://www.library.csus.edu

  3. Step 2 Click on the Journal Locator List link.

  4. Step 3 To locate the article in the periodical entitled The Age (Melbourne), type in the box the title exactly The Age then click on the Locate button. (Go to Step 11 to search for the other periodical)

  5. Step 4 The next screen will indicate if there is a match. In this case, the title is contained in 2 databases: FACTIVA and LEXIS/NEXIS.

  6. Step 5 Click on the periodical title.

  7. Step 6 Type in the year and click on the database name above.

  8. Step 7 If one is on campus, one will be linked directly to the database and can conduct a search (go to the next step). If off campus and one is using another Internet provider, one will need to type in one’s saclink name and password after clicking On proxy access.

  9. Step 8 Type in the following search: o'loughlin and hamas Click on the Date box and double click on the Enter date range… and enter the date 21 06 2003 in both sets of boxes

  10. Step 9 Note that this one matches the search request Click on the title to view the full text

  11. Step 10 One can read the full text. To email the results, click on the icon. To print, click on the icon.

  12. Step 11 Go to the Library’s web page to find a database that contains your periodical http://www.library.csus.edu

  13. Step 12 Click on the Journal Locator List link.

  14. Step 13 To locate the article in the periodical entitled International Herald Tribune type in the box the title international herald tribune. Then click on the Locate button.

  15. Step 14 The next screen will indicate if there is a match. In this case, the title is contained 2 databases: INFOTRAC: General Business File and ProQuest Newsstand

  16. Step 15 Click on the periodical title.

  17. Step 16 Type in the year and click on the database name above.

  18. Step 17 Click on Back to …Search

  19. Step 18 Click on Keyword Search

  20. Step 19 Type in the box social service and ian fisher Type in the box to the following journal(s) international herald Tribune Then click on the Search button

  21. Step 20 Note the match result matches the request Click on the title or the word Text to view the full text

  22. Step 21 Click on Print to make a print copy Or E-mail to send a copy
