Communication Prior to the Game Sign and Return Contracts Promptly Confirm Assignment Confirm Travel Arrangements
Communication At the Game Site Arrive Early and Meet the Game Host Participate in a PreGame Meeting Look the Part Communicate with Coaches and Players Be a Facilitator Old Saying
Rules Every Official is Expected to be a Rules Expert!!! Every Official Must Know Penalty Enforcement. Every Official Must Know the Clock Status.
Excellence Players and Coaches Practice for Hours – DAYS. They want to be the BEST. Officials must strive to improve in every game. To remain the same is to get worse.
Work There is no substitute for OJT. Scrimmages, Games, Jamborees – as many as you can work helps an official get better. Always use proper mechanics.
Work Stay physically fit. Officiate multiple levels. Have field presence. Practice and expect sporting conduct.
