  1. Propositions BY: SAMANTHA MONTES DE OCA #24 & PABLO LEPE #16 10/29/2008

  2. PROPOSITION 2 • PROP. 2 HELPS THE FARM ANIMALS AND STOPS ANIMAL CRUELTY. SINCE ANIMAL CRUELTY IS HAPPENING ALL OVER THE STATE,PROPOSITION 2 WILL TAKE PEOPLE WHO DO ANIMAL CRUELTY IN CUSTODY AND WILL HELP THE ANIMALS IN NEED.

  3. YES: • IT WILL PROTECT THE ANIMALS FROM BEING HURT AND ABUSED SO THAT THEY COULD BE FREE • IT WILL TELL FARMERS THAT THE WAY THEY TREAT THE ANIMALS IS UNFAIR AND CRUEL. • THE ANIMALS DO HAVE FEELINGS LIKE US AND WE NEED TO RESPECT THEM LIKE WE RESPECT OTHERS.

  4. NO: • IT WILL RAISE TAXES BECAUSE THE COWS DO NOT PRODUCE VEAL • HENS MIGHT GET LOOSE AND THERE WOULD BE NO EGGS • FARMING JOBS WILL BE LOST CAUSING LESS PRODUCTION IN FOOD AND DAIRY PRODUCTS.

  5. PROPOSITION 3 • CHILDREN’S HOSPITALS ARE ASKING FOR DONATIONS • THE HOSPITALS NEED DONATIONS BECAUSE THEY HAVE VERY SMALL ROOMS.

  6. YES: • THE HOSPITALS HAVE TONS OF CHILDREN IN NEED OF CARE BECAUSE THEY ARE SICK. • THE HOSPITALS IN CALIFORNIA NEED MONEY TO BUY MEDICINE, BEDS, AND BIGGER ROOMS. • MANY CHILDREN HAVE CANCER, LEUKEMIA, AND MANY OTHER DISEASES AND WITH THIS MONEY, CHILDREN CAN BE CURED.

  7. NO • HOW DO WE EVEN KNOW IF THE MONEY WE DONATE GOES TO THE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL? • WHAT IF OUR DONATIONS STILL DON’T HELP THESE KIDS, IT WOULD JUST BE A WASTE. • THE HOSPITALS NEED A LOT OF MONEY TO GET MEDICINE FOR THE DISEASES AND WE CAN’T GIVE THAT MUCH MONEY

  8. PROPOSITION 4 • IT INCLUDES PARENTAL NOTIFICATION BEFORE ABORTION • IT LETS A PARENT OR GUARDIAN KNOW WHEN THEIR CHILD IS ABOUT TO RECEIVE AN ABORTION

  9. YES: • Without Sarah's Law, most parents won’t know if their minor daughter is seeking an abortion. • Sarah’s Law will protect young victims of sexual crimes. • A young girl can’t get an abortion without a family member being notified—and this could endanger her safety, even her life.

  10. No: • Proposition 4 puts teens at risk because, how do you know that a very desperate teen will tell her parents about something so dangerous? • “SARAH” was a married mother, with a child, when she died in Texas in 1994. Nothing in Prop. 4 would have prevented her tragic death. • Proposition 4 will limit women’s right to choose.

  11. Conclusion: • We wanted to do Propositions 2,3, & 4 because it is mostly about safety and caring for both animals and people. In prop. 2, we learned that not all the animals in the world are treated fairly. • In prop. 3 we learned that hospitals need money to save children with cancer, leukemia, and other diseases. In prop. 4 we learned that many teens are getting pregnant and are receiving abortion without telling their parents about it.
