  3. 2010-2011 Council Meeting • First Council Meeting held 8/28/10 10am-1pm • Purpose: to plan for the year activities • 9 out of 12 council members attended, 1 via phone; non-attendees sent out their ideas ahead of time and were discussed during the meeting • Items discussed: section goals, council members goals/projects/ideas, calendar of events, budget, council members meetings

  4. 2010-2011 Section Goals • Section Goals: • To increase membership and membership participation • To increase students (K-College) involvement in AIAA activities • How? • Events, tours, dinner meetings, technical symposium, etc. • Recruit students and educator associates to become members • Keep students motivated to come to our events • Advertise events with all type of publicity resources

Calendar of Activities 2010 September Kick-off: Sailplanes October Dunmore Tour November Young Professionals Meeting Public Policy Dinner Meeting December Boeing Facility Tour 2011 January Young Professionals Meeting Distinguished Lecturer February Co-sponsored Event with AIAA Drexel Student Chapter March Public Policy Dinner Meeting April Movie Night Elections May Honors & Awards Night

Kick-off Meeting: Food & Fly with Sailplanes • Held Saturday, Sept. 11 4:00pm-8:00pm • Place: PGC Soaring Perkasie, PA • ~20 attendees, 10 had glider rides • Family event (5 – 65 yrs) • 1 new sign-up • Pictures are up on facebook, find us at “AIAA Greater Philadelphia Section” • First successful event!

  7. Greater Philadelphia Section Geography Currently members from Central Jersey are participating in our events – would like to have them officially registered as part of the section to provide better service

  8. Items in works • Need to fulfill the Newsletter Editor position (asked a new recruit if interested) • Need a session with the IT group to better understand the use of sharepoint (Communications Chair and Member-at-Large Chair working on it with Emily and Steven) • Need support on Technical Symposium organization • Tentative Date: 3/25/10 (to take place for the ex mini-symposium held previous years) • Career Enhancement Chair will lead activity • Purpose: to get the local members (e.g NY, NJ, DE, PA) middle & high school students, undergrad & grad students, young & experience professionals to present their work related to aerospace activities [for those who cannot attend the Region I YP/Student Conference in MA] • Possible location: new Lockheed Martin Newtown facility, Patriot Center (working on getting support from local site to allow the use of center and get facilities team support) • Can we use Scholar One to manage abstracts & papers? • Can we get any support from HQ? • Please contact Justin Likar to provide information: justin.j.likar@lmco.com
