  1. 100-Day Challenge on Youth Homelessness Reflections at Day 100

  3. Results + Momentum Our Goal: In 100 days, ….. By Day 100, every 14-24 year old who enters through Coordinated Entry will be off the street within 2 days of entry and 85 exits to safe, stable housing. 50 of the 14-24 year old youth entering through CE are connected to training, education, or employment (subsidized or unsubsidized) and 5 youth identified as needing behavioral health are connected to care. Our Results:In 100 days, ... • 120 youth were off the street within 1 day of entry and placed in shelter • 19 or 68% youth left shelter to safe, stable housing (reunited with family, transitional housing, rental) • 52 youth connected to training, education, or employment • 103 youth needing behavioral health services were connected to care

Key Accomplishments • Four youth with lived experience actively involved in 100-Day Challenge team who informed the process, joined Youth Advisory Board, engaged other youth in need of services, participated in PIT youth service count, and were appointed to YHWG and Housing and Services Development Committee • Added three new youth access points (not formerly part of the CoC) • After-hour placements and points of contacts at the major shelters • New partnership with CareerSource South Florida created an employment pipeline for youth on the BNL • Using HMIS, added new end users and added youth-focused questions to better understand system gaps and needs

  5. LESSONS: What worked? Why? 1. Youth leadership development Youth were empowered to engage and provide feedback on system changes in a safe, creative environment 2. Cross system leadership The Alliance for GLBTQ youth, Homeless Trust, MDCPS & Miami Homes for All 3. Enhanced CoC partnerships Our Kids, CareerSource, Children’s Trust, Educate Tomorrow, Pridelines… 4. Enhancing gaps and needs Developed gaps and needs tools & expanded HMIS access 5. Youth accessing shelter when needed

  6. Obstacles + Strategies to Overcome Them Moving Forward

ONWARD! • Meeting monthly at the Youth By-Name List and the HOMY Permanent Connections Committee • Youth will be actively recruited and engaged in CoC Committee’s & Youth Advisory Board. • Youth will be paid a living wage, participate in leadership development opportunities, and work with CoC and HOMY partners as fellows. • System Leaders will continuously meet (quarterly) at the CoC’s Youth Homelessness Working Group. • Shelter and housing providers will continue their commitment to assist youth. • Continue work with CareerSource to secure employment and income growth for our youth • Explore development of Educate Tomorrow app to communicate with homeless youth
