Vocab cont. send to me visuals for review and that action is a demonstration of above and beyond –e.g. =A • 6. succinct • Mr. Norton asked us to write a succinct summary of the reading, but Stacey’s summary was longer than the original text—she never knows how to state a point simply. • 7. sycophants • The king couldn’t distinguish the honest advisers from the sycophants who flattered him for personal gain. • 8. tenet • It is an unspoken tenet of our relationship that we are honest about each other’s appearances — if she has lipstick on her teeth, I tell her; if I look hideous in an outfit, she suggests I change. • 9. urbane • I miss the urbane vibe of San Francisco—the poetry readings, plays, art exhibits—something was always going on while around here the church bake sale is an exciting event. • 10. vapid • Behind every uninspiring, vapid TV sit-com you’ll find an empty-headed producer, director, and screenwriter.
