When you make a systematic list, you reveal the structure of a problem. Sometimes the list is all you need to solve it. Plane schedules are systematic lists that help travels find information easily and quickly.
Example 1 Loose Change Leslie has 25 cents in her pocket but does not have a quarter. If you can tell her all possible combinations of coins she could have that add up to 25 cents, she will give you the 25 cents.
Example 2 Penny has a pile of 25 candies. She likes to arrange them into three piles, putting an odd number of candies into each pile. In how many ways could she do this?
