  1. Psalm 1 – The Good Life – The godly & the godless life 1 Oh, the joys of those who do not [Blessed is the one who...]    follow the advice of the wicked, [walks not in the counsel]    or stand around with sinners, [nor stands in the way/example]    or join in with mockers. [nor sits in the company...]2But they delight in the law of the Lord,    meditating on it day and night.3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank,    bearing fruit each season.Their leaves never wither,    and they prosper in all they do. 4 But not the wicked!    They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind.5 They will be condemned at the time of judgment.    Sinners will have no place among the godly.6 For the Lord watches over [knows] the path of the godly,    but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.

  2. Verse 1 covers all aspects of life: Beliefs/thinking, Behaviour, Belonging “Sow a thought and you reap an action; sow an act and you reap a habit; sow a habit and you reap a character; sow a character and you reap a destiny [lifestyle].” Attributed to both Charles Reade & Ralph Waldo Emerson Proverbs 23 verse 7 “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.”

  6. Deuteronomy chapter 4 4 “Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. 5 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. 6 And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. 7 Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. 8 Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. 9 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. (NLT)

  7. Psalm 1 - The Way to Happiness 1 God blesses those people who refuse evil advice    and won’t follow sinners    or join in sneering at God.2 Instead, the Law of the Lord makes them happy,    and they think about it day and night. 3 They are like trees growing beside a stream, trees that produce fruit in season and always have leaves. Those people succeed in everything they do. 4 That isn’t true of those who are evil,    because they are like straw blown by the wind.5 Sinners won’t have an excuse on the day of judgment,    and they won’t have a place with the people of God.6 The Lord protects everyone who follows him,    but the wicked follow a road that leads to ruin.
