OF COURSE !!! • Think about it, there’s more energy in the sun than we could ever use. • Near Perfect Power Source.
Two Types of Solar Heat Energy • Passive Solar • Active Solar
Passive Solar Heating • The use of the sun as a heating source without fans or pumps. • Like sun through your window.
Is It Hard To Do? • Passive solar can be easily designed into a buildings plans, and is very cost effective. • It is a great way to save money and Energy.
I Get It!! • Passive can be used by everyone without special equipment. • And it saves money.
Active Solar • Active Solar Heating uses Pumps, Fans, and other equipment to gather and distribute heat energy to where it is needed.
Active Collectors • This is an example of one of the simplest types of solar heat collectors. It is made-up of just these three simple components.
Glazing • The Glazing is a glass piece that covers the Collector Plate. • Glazing lets the suns rays in, then keeps them from escaping.
Collector Plate • The Collector Plate is the most important part of the collector. • It is the part that actually collects the energy. • It does this by running water through a series of small pipes, these pipes are heated by the sun and in turn heat the water.
After the Absorber Plate collects the heat, the Insulation keeps that heat from escaping. This makes the collector more efficient and less wasteful. ‘Help!!’ Insulation
So….. • Active Solar is a good way to use the sun for heating your water and your home. • It is very economical because it is efficient and reliable. • Besides, the sun’s rays are free.
These and other types of solar energy are an exceptional way to get energy. All in all solar energy ROCKS!!!!! THEEND So class, what did we learn?
