PROBLEM – TAKEN MEASURES (after 2001-before 2009) WITH THE INCREASE OF EXPOSURE SHARP INCREASE OF THE NUMBER OF ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES !!!!=> 1) Drastic increase of fines (7 to 10 times), 2) Coordination and cooperation between stakeholders, 3) Preparation of the new Law on Traffic Safety, 4) Campaigns, 5) New institutions .... TAKEN MEASURES IN 2009. • New traffic law in the Republic of Serbia was adopted in June 2009, • Independent public Road Traffic Safety Agency was formed by the Government in December 2009, • Lengthy and comprehensive awareness of new rules and penalty provisions in the new Traffic Law is implemented across all media types, • Strengthen coordination and cooperation between diferent stakeholders, • A strong campaign of traffic police control on roads…

New Traffic Law Solutions in Serbia • Establishment of the special National body for coordination at the ministerial level, • Penalty point system for traffic offences, • Speed-limit in populated places – 50 km/h, etc…, • The prohibition of using mobile phonesduring the drive-the allowed use of hands-free devices, • Forbidden possessing, using, selling and promoting of anti-radar devicesandradar detectors, • Obligation for using seatbelts on the rear seats in the vehicles, • Obligation for using child restraint systems for transport of children, • The obligatory use of vehicle lights during daylight,

  14. New Traffic Law Solutions in Serbia • Defining of the violent driving, • Max. BAC: drivers of passenger cars 0,30 ‰, • Probationary driving license for novice drivers, • Obligation for drivers to carry reflective vests in their vehicles, • Obligation for pedestrians to carry reflective vests when they walk outside of urban areas, • Etc.

Drunk Drivers Leveling in Serbia • ≤ 0,30 mg/ml – LOW alcohol level, • 0,31 mg/ml - 0,50 mg/ml – MODERATE alcohol level, • 0,51 mg/ml - 1,19 mg/ml – MIDDEL alcohol level, • 1,20 mg/ml - 1,60 mg/ml – HIGH alcohol level, • 1,61 mg/ml - 2,00 mg/ml – VERY HIGH alcohol level, • >2,00 mg/ml –TOTALY INEBRIATED alcohol level.
