Coverage (data characteristics) • Data collected by census - organisation registrated at the Ministry of Science and Technological Development (according to Low of Research and Development): • High education • Institutes (scientific and for research and development) • Institution of high relevance (tehnological parks, incubators...) • Enterprises (business sector and non-profit sector) excluded (problem?) Researching provides users with data concerning R&D personnel and R&D expenditure, broken down by sectors of performance. • R&D personnel: • Data broken down by occupation, by qualification, by gender, by age, by fields of science and by regions. • From 2007. year R&D personnel data will be available in Full-time equivalent (FTE) and as a % of all employment. • R&D expenditure: • Broken down by source of funds, by fields of science, by type of costs, by socio-economic objectives, by type of activity, by type of R&D, by fields of science and by region. Needs and Obstacles: • The general politics is: reduction of government administration (at the moment: one statistician + one project engineer) • Request: expand number of experts in this area – least 4 statisticians + project engineer • Support in providing technical instruments: methodological recommendation, questionnaire, tabulation schemes etc. • Permanency of education and training for personnel: participation on international workshops. • Suggestion for improvement of coverage in R&D: aim – to include business sector and non-profit sector. • Statistilal units - overcroweded by requests from state statistics and other goverment institutions.
