2. Huh???What are we doing??? • Currently, CCA is going through WASC, a school certification process. • Every school goes through it. It’s an evaluation process to establish if CCA is setting a meeting learning goals.

3. So???What the heck are we doing??? • CCA has created ESLR’s we strive to achieve. • ESLR’s = Expected Schoolwide Learning Results • In most classrooms, you can see them posted on the wall. (check it out… are they there???)

4. What are our ESLR’s???What are CCA’s goals???(I thought they were just trying imprison me for four years…) • No! Of course not! • Well, not exactly…

5. Fine…What are CCA’s six ESLR goals??? • CCA Graduates are • self-directed learners • capable and responsible citizens • quality producers • creative and critical thinkers • effective communicators • collaborative workers

6. OK, fine… CCA has goals.So, what??? • CCA would like to get your feedback about our ESLR’s. • We would like to hear from you about which goals we are achieving and which goals we need to work on.

7. Hear from me???How are you going to do that? • As a class, you will evaluate how CCA is doing in reaching its goals. • Then you will give specific feedback as why this is true.

8. I have to do what??? • This week you’re going to evaluate our first ESLR…. • ESLR#1 – • CCA students are self-directed learners

What the heck does that mean??? • Self Directed Learners – • set challenging but achievable academic personal goals • monitor, assess, and reflect upon their academic growth and development • achieve proficiency in the academic standards • develop a plan for life after high school using a variety of online assessment tools

10. Ask yourself which goals CCA best reaches and which it could use the most work on? • again, Self Directed Learners – • set challenging but achievable academic personal goals • monitor, assess, and reflect upon their academic growth and development • achieve proficiency in the academic standards • develop a plan for life after high school using a variety of online assessment tools

11. Think about, freewrite, or discuss which goals you would choose and why. Then as a class, choose which CCA most and least achieves. After that, justify your choices with a few specific reasons.

15. What do I do when I’m done with all six goals? • Staple your six evaluations together • Return to Craig Fox’s mailbox • Pat yourself on the back for a job well done.

Talk to me after I’ve had my second soda… • Creative and critical thinkers – • develop and express unique ideas • analyze, interpret, evaluate, and apply concepts within and across disciplines • examine and analyze moral, ethical, and cultural issues from multiple perspectives • reflect on cognitive process for future growth and learning

Please, some of them can’t shut their pie holes for ten seconds… • Effective communicators – • are able to interpret and express ideas well in written, verbal, creative and other nonverbal modalities • work collaboratively with others in diverse perspectives • use communication skills to resolve conflicts peacefully

26. Collaborative Workers??? We better be able to choose our own groups; otherwise I’m gonna be pissed… • Collaborative Workers – • perform a variety of leadership and supportive roles within a collaborative group • partner with other teachers and students in cross-curricular collaborative assignments and research projects • contribute to a variety of learning communities
