RESPIRATORY ASSESSMENT • ANTERIOR CHEST • Inspect for: • Shape & configuration • Facial expressions • LOC • Colour & condition • Respirations • Palpate for: • Symmetric chest expansion • Auscultate for: • Breath sounds • Adventitious sounds POSTERIOR CHEST • Inspect (look) for: • Shape & configuration • Breathing posture • Palpate (feel) for: • Symmetry • Vibrations • Lumps/bumps/tenderness • Auscultate (listen) for: • Normal Breath sounds • Adventitious (added/abnormal) sounds
