Purpose of CYFAR 101 • To help you develop a fundable application. • All information provided is based upon last year’s RFA. • Each year there are changes in the RFA • To help ensure proposals are evaluated on quality of program and not triaged because • PD/PI did not read the grant thoroughly • PD/PI did not understand the grants.gov requirements • PD/PI did not understand how address the required components of the grant • PD/PI did not allow enough time to do the upfront leg work that is required by the grant

  6. CYFAR • 1994 • Smith Lever funding designated for 1862 Land Grant Institutions • Included a state activities, not just community sites • State Strengthening Projects (STST) • New Community Projects (NCP) • Sustainable Community Projects (SCP) • Five national networks

  7. CYFERnet • In1999 the five networks were collapsed into one national website in order to provide more oversight and consistencies. • Has 5 editors and 5editorial boards with diverse membership from across the nation.
