  2. Sons of Norway is a life insurance company that offers fraternal programs to its stakeholders, you. The Foundation supports the fraternal programs through grants to our lodges & their communities and awards scholarships to our youth. How does the Foundation fit into Sons of Norway?

The Sons of Norway Foundation awards 22-26 college scholarships each year • There are several different categories of scholarships for different areas of study • 200 heritage camp scholarships are awarded from the Foundation’s Draxten Fund in our US Districts Piggy goes to Camp campaign • Ski For Light receives a scholarship from the Foundation for first time attendees

  7. Grants “ Knowing that the Sons of Norway Foundation is supporting our lodge and community has made gaining the support of local volunteers and Parks and Recreation possible. Our lodge and Sons of Norway will be recognized as the fraternal organization that truly cares about our traditions and community.” Tom Arnold, Chairman

  8. 2013-2014 Grants Awarded to D # 1 8 Local Lodge Partnership grants totaling $1,775 For Norwegian themed programming in lodges and communities , festival participation and audio-visual equipment. 21 General Heritage & Culture Grants totaling$10,460 Funding for Norwegian artisans, traveling exhibits, festival sponsorships, musical performances, art installations and other community-wide participation. 7 Helping Hands to Children Grants totaling$1,975 To help lodges connect with the next generation by offering Nordic themed Programming in schools, ski races, folk dancing instruction, arts and crafts. 36 opportunities created by Sons of Norway Foundation funding. $14,210

  9. Grants Norwegian Everyday Bunad Class “Thank you so much for the General Heritage and Culture Grant to Fjelldal Lodge. We had so much fun getting together and researching where our families came from and what bunads they would have worn.”

Humanitarian Fund Since 1997, the Sons of Norway Foundation has awarded over $521,000 to help victims of natural disasters. • Since 2004, Helping Hands to Member Grantshave been awarded to Sons of Norway members who have lost their homes to floods, hurricanes, and tornados in Iowa, Florida, New Jersey, Colorado, North Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin. The latest grants were awarded to members on the East Coast due to Hurricane Sandy in 2012 and to familes in Colorado and Canadian members in Calgary after severe flooding in 2013.
