  2. Infrastructure & Membership (Cont.) Chair & Co-Chair Positions: Elected by members Two year term Position is funded by Patient Care Services: 0.2 FTE (8 hours per week) Nominees must meet minimum qualifying criteria

GOALS To provide oversight of all nursing research activities within the Santa Rosa facility in effort to improve clinical practice and patient outcomes To promote interdepartmental collaboration, cooperation, and communication regarding nursing research and related subjects To facilitate educational experiences for nursing staff so as to increase awareness of nursing research concepts and encourage staff participation in research utilization

  4. GOALS, Cont. To review current policies, procedures, and practices within the facility in order to ensure organizational compliance with evidence based standards of care To disseminate research findings to staff and promote implementation of findings into clinical practice To contribute to the larger body of nursing research via publication To serve as a resource and support network for students and/or employees seeking to conduct or participate in nursing research To communicate and collaborate with the Regional Nursing Research Committee

Promoting Evidence-Based Practice Communication with Clinical Standards Committee (Liaison) Monthly Best Practice Articles Annual Nursing Research Symposium Literature Searching/Critique Classes Unit-Based Clinical Practice Councils Evidence-Based Practice Projects Post-op Gum Chewing Caring for the Mentally Ill in the Acute Care Setting Infant Warming via Skin-to-Skin Method

  6. Lessons from the Road Involve Nursing Leadership! Think “Return on Investment” when making proposals to Leadership Ask “How can the Nursing Research Committee support current initiatives in the facility?”

  7. More Lessons from the Road Think Outside the Box: Make connections with Local Universities & Professional Organizations Compensate the members for their time! Create an action plan with measurable goals & timeline for accomplishing tasks. Refer back to this when you feel “lost”
