  1. GlobalWarniging!

  2. What’s Global Warming? The basic science of global warming says: The suns radiation comes in in the form of light waves. Then, some of the radiation that is absorbed and warms the Earth is re-radiated back into space in the form of infrared radiation. Some of that radiation is trapped by one layer of atmosphere and it warm the Earth. That keeps the temperature of the Earth within certain boundaries. The problem is this thin layer of atmosphere is being thickened by our global warming pollution, so more outgoing infrared radiation is trapped. And so the atmosphere heats up worldwide.

  3. Didn't you understand anything? Don’t worry about it! We’ve chosen one video that will solve all your doubts!!! Be careful with these words: -Went away: desapareció -Culprit: culpable -Foreigners: extrajeros/forasteros -Popping in: ir a visitar -I’ll be on my way: seguiré mi camino -Greenhouse gases: gases invernadero -Chock-full: lleno/al completo -Rotting corpses: cadáveres putrefactos -get rid of: librarse de -once and for all: de una vez por todas

  4. What impact does Global Warming? • In the last 20 years, in the Antarctic Peninsula have broken up many ice shelves (green blotches). • We want to show you one special ice shelf, called Larsen B. that went away in 2002 in a period of 35 days! • 1. 31st January. • 2. 17th February. • 3. 23rd February. • 4. 5th March.

After see it, you should think in it. • Vocabulary: • -stream: corriente • -prevailing winds: vientos predominantes • -loop: bucle / circuito • -Ocean Conveyor: Cinturón Transportador Oceánico • -bottom: fondo • -pulled out: expulsado • rate: tasa (velocidad) • receding: retrocediendo • Melt: derretirse • Fresh water: agua dulce -remnants: restos -dam: dique -rushing out: salir rápidamente -ripping open: abriendo -pump: bomba -shut off: se cerró -chunk: trozo

  6. What we could do to solve the problem -Buy energy efficient appliances and light bulbs. -Change you thermostat to reduce energy for heating or cooling. -Use clock thermostats. -Weatherize your house. -Increase insulation. -Recycle. -If you can, buy a hybrid car. -When you can, walk or ride a bike. -Use mass transit. -Encourage everyone you know to see the movie below: “An Inconvenience Truth”.
