Isaiah 40: 25-31 25 "So who will you compare me to? Who is equal to me?" says the Holy One. 26 Look up toward the sky. Who created everything you see? The Lord causes the stars to come out at night one by one. He gives each one of them a name. His power and strength are great. So none of the stars is missing. 27 Family of Jacob, why do you say, "The Lord doesn't notice our condition"? People of Israel, why do you say, "Our God doesn't pay any attention to our rightful claims"? 28 Don't you know who made everything? Haven't you heard about him? The Lord is the God who lives forever. He created everything on earth. He won't become worn out or get tired. No one will ever know how great his understanding is. 29 He gives strength to those who are tired. He gives power to those who are weak. 30 Even young people become worn out and get tired. Even the best of them trip and fall.

The Lie we buy into When I cry out to God for help and assistance, having doubts & feeling separated, it means I am not trusting in Him

The Truth from God’s Word • It’s OK to cry out to God for help and assistance. • It’s OK to have doubts
The Hope we have • God uses the moments when we feel abandoned, alone, cheated & let down to bring us closer to Him • Only through humility and repentance do we truly turn to Him

Conversion Our willing response to the gospel call in which we sincerely repent of sins and place our trust in Christ for salvation True conversion requires us to decide to depend on Jesus to save us.
True Saving Faith includes a Personal Trust in God. • Saving faith: Trust in Jesus Christ as the living person for forgiveness of sins and eternal life with God • Saving faith is not just a belief in facts about Jesus and His Word, but personal trust in Jesus.
The word trust is a better word to use in contemporary culture than the word “faith” or “belief”. The reason is that we can “believe” something to be true with no personal commitment or dependence involved in it.
The word faith, on the other hand, is sometimes used today to refer to an almost irrational commitment to something in spite of strong evidence to the contrary, a sort of irrational decision to believe something that we are quite sure is not true
In these two popular senses, the word “belief” and “faith” have a meaning contrary to the biblical sense. The word trust is close to the biblical idea, since we are familiar with trusting persons in everyday life. The more we come to know a person and the more we see in that person a pattern of life that warrants trust, the more we find ourselves able to place trust in that person to do what he or she promises. This fuller sense of personal trust is indicated throughout scripture.
“..whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life” John 3:16 John does not use the phrase” whoever believes him” but rather “whoever believes in him” The Greek phrase pisteuo ei auton could also be translated “believe into him” with the sense of trust or confidence that goes into and rests in Jesus as a person. This phrase is not just an intellectual assent, but includes a moral element of personal trust.
Proverbs 3 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. NIV
Once we stop trusting God • Lead down bunny trails • Worry, concern, sorrow, confusion, ruin and ultimately we perish
The Lord will perfect that • which concerneth me • Psalm 138:8
The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me- Psalm 138:8 Psalmist is not saying I have grace enough to perfect that which concerneth me-my faith is so steady that it will not stagger-my love is so warm that will never grow cold-my resolution is so firm that nothing can move it No, the Psalmist is stating that his dependence is on the Lord alone. If we indulge in any confidence which is not grounded on the Rock of ages, our confidence is worse than a dream, it will fall upon us, and cover us with its ruins, to our sorrow and confusion. Our confidence must not be in what we have done, nor in what we have resolved to do, but entirely in what the Lord will do. Unbelief states: You will never be able to stand. Look at the evil of your heart, you can never conquer sin; remember the sinful pleasures and temptations of the world that beset you, you will be certainly allured by them and led astray Ah! Yes, we should indeed perish if left to our own strength. If we had alone to navigate our frail vessels over so rough a sea, we might well give up voyage to despair; but thanks be to God, he will perfect that which concerneth us, and bring us to the desired haven. We can never be too confident when we confide in him alone, and never too much concerned to have such a trust
OK. I’m convinced. I agree. I need to trust God We are in one of 3 different places at any point in time Entering or beginning a time or place of difficulty stress/worry/anxiety/hopelessness In the middle of this place Just leaving this place
I don’t like going through this difficulty I dread going through this I am afraid of what I am having to deal with I want to escape this situation somehow (wanna get away?) How come God is letting this happen to me?
He shall not be afraid of evil tidings • Psalm 112:7
Christian, you ought not to dread the arrival of evil tidings; because it you are distressed by them, what do you more than other men? Other men have not your God to fly to. If you profess to be born again then you have been begotten unto a lively hope & your heart lives in heaven not on earthly things. What is the value of the grace you profess to have received and where is the dignity of that new nature you claim to posses, if you fail to trust in the Lord?
If you should be filled with alarm, as others are, you would doubtless be led into sins so common to others under trying circumstances. The ungodly, when they are overtaken by evil tidings, rebel against God; they murmur and thing that God deals harshly with them. Will you fall into that same sin? Will your provoke God as they do? Moreover, unconverted men often run to wrong means in order to escape from difficulties and you will sure do the same if your mind yields present pressures facing you.
Trust in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him. Your wisest course is to do as Moses did at the Red Sea. “Stand still and see the salvation of God”. If you give way to fear when you hear of the evil tidings, you will be unable to meet the trouble with that calm composure which nerves for duty, and sustains under adversity
How can you glorify God if you play the coward? Saints have often sung God’s high praises in the fires, but will your doubting and desponding, as if you had none to help you, magnify the Most High? Then take courage, and relaying in sure confidence upon the faithfulness of your covenant God, “let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”.

For Those Who Trust and Obey There is no shadow that can rise, There is no cloud in the skies There is no doubt or fear There are no sighs or tears
For Those Who Trust and Obey There is no burden to bear or sorrow to share There is no grief or loss There is no frown or a cross
For Those Who Trust and Obey His favor He will show and All His Joy He will Bestow They will sit at His feet and walk by His side They will do what he says and go where he sends They will never fear
