  2. Birth • Cologne, Germany in 1958

  3. Initial Success • In 1981, he won first place at the Guitar Competition of Granada. This win was quite a special win because Andres Segovia was the one who honored him with the first prize. • Andres Segovia is known as the “Father of Classical Guitar”

  4. Continued Success • His first place victory was followed by an extensive concert tour of Spain. • Spain is known for Spanish Guitar (a style within Classical Guitar)

  5. Continued Success • Frank Bungarten has performed in over 40 countries. • His repertoire has focused around Bach even though he loves to play a wide variety of composers.

  6. Life with a Guitar • His guitar life began at the ageof 10. • He was taught by Carlos Baez. • He eventually went on to study at the Academy of Music of Cologne • He also trained with Karl-Heinz Bottner, Hubert Kappel, and Oscar Ghiglia.

  7. Life after Study • After studying guitar, he became a lecturer and soloist. • He has played in the berlin Philharmonic, the Arts and Convention Centre Lucerne, the Gasteig Munich, the Salzburg Festival, Schwetzingen, Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, etc…
