ECC background… • Established in 1949 as part of U-46 • Joined Illinois community college system in 1966 • ECC is now 6th largest community college in Illinois • In 2004, ECC had • 19,544 credit students and 5,865 non-credit students • 43.7% male and 56.3% female • About 69% of transfer and career-tech students are part-time • 59.74% White; 29.44% Hispanic; 5.35% Asian/Pacific Islander; 4.96% Black, not Hispanic • 53.76% 24 years old or younger ECC Self-Study Report

ECC (FT) Mathematics Department: Lauren Anderko; Naima Bahaji; Mary Ann Tuerk; Dan Kernler; Cathy Moushon; Nicole Scherger; Gary Grohs; Harry Teichert ECC Math Department Facts… • Member of the American Association of Two-Year Colleges (AMATYC) and the Illinois Mathematics Association of Community Colleges (IMACC), where our own Cathy Moushon is the President-Elect. • Math department members serve on a multitude of campus committees, including assessment (Nicole), faculty development (Lauren), academic policy (Naima), faculty senate and negotiations team (Dan), curriculum (Harry), and many more…. • Course offerings include 18 different courses, ranging form Math 090 to Math 202 (Differential Equations) • 70% of those students taking the math placement test in 2006 placed in Math 096 or below
