  6. Department of Biomedical, Industrial and Human Factors Engineering Focus Areas with BIE Faculty: • Industrial and Human Systems • Materials and Nanotechnology • Medical and Biological Systems • Sensor Signal and Image Processing

  7. Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering Focus Areas with ME Faculty: • Computational Design and Optimization • Controls and Robotics • Materials and Nanotechnology

  8. Department of Electrical Engineering Focus Areas with EE Faculty: • Controls and Robotics • Electronics, Microwaves, VLSI, and Nanotechnology • Sensor Signal and Image Processing

  9. External Review • In 2012, the Ph.D. Program was reviewed by a panel of engineering faculty from other universities • The results of the review were highly favorable • The reviewers made particularly excellent comments about the interdisciplinary nature of the program

  10. NRC Rankings In recently released 2010 NRC Rankings, WSU’s Ph.D. in Engineering Program was ranked 16th of 31 programs in Aerospace Engineering 16: Wright State University 18: University of Cincinnati 19: Ohio State University

  12. Since its inception in 1997, the Ph.D. In Engineering Program has awarded 124 doctoral degrees.

Recent Dissertation Projects Inseok Park (Dr. RamanaGrandhi, Advisor): Quantification of Multiple Types of Uncertainty in Physics-based Simulation Wu Yang (Dr. Lang Hong, Advisor): Traffic Surveillance Using Continuous Wave (CW) Doppler Radars Klint Simon (Dr. TarunGoswami, Advisor): Lithium-Ion Battery Anodes of Randomly Dispersed Carbon Nanotubes, Nanofibers, and Tin-Oxide Nanoparticles Kara Hall (Dr. Chandler Phillips, Advisor): Dynamic Control for a Pneumatic Muscle Actuator to Achieve Isokinetic Muscle Strengthening

  14. Our graduates are increasingly successful in securing positions in academia.   17. Program of Study The semester-based program of study includes a total of at least 60 hours beyond the M.S. degree, including at least 20 hours of coursework.
